ANZAC Commemorations

This week Room 17 have been learning about the Great War.

We have been reading stories about the soldiers and nurses who served in the war and writing fictional stories based on them.  We watched short films about the soldiers who went to war and looked at the geography of the battles and the countries involved. We finished the week with making yummy ANZAC biscuits and making poppy art for a display in the school library.

Here is a sample of some of our written work:

The Nurse and the Solider
by Maha
It was a hot day. She walked down the hall in an old hospital ship.
"Help me nurse," cried a solider.
"O.k," she says, as she ties a mask around her head. After that she gave him medicine, Some soldiers were crying because they missed their families.

Gallipoli Battle
by Uinise
Bang! Bang! The sound of guns pierce the air. Wounded men are scattered on the ground. I hear screaming and crying men hiding in trenches.
"Ow, my leg!" I shouted, "Help me."
I felt like my life was about to end. All I can hear is gunfire. With all my might I try to stand up and walk.

Here is us eating our biscuits and making our poppy art on Friday.

We had fun learning about the Great War and the battle of Gallipoli this week.
